Nah nah...
You can't play Pod under WindowsXP !
Well...in fact you can do it if you don't install the D3D5 patch...
If you apply the D3D5 patch (the 24mo one), the game will run but with no textures...
That's too bad :/
If it wasn't like that I would run Windows 2000 or XP for a long time now.......but I'm still under W98...and I'm fine with it !
My system is one year old and it's running pretty fine !!
Just ask others, they saw it to the Grouikstock lol !!

Nah...
I encountered some little problems at the grouikstock but in fact, without kidding, my WIN98 is really stable !
I have loads of applications, games and utils installed, I have 2 big HD of different brand almost full, and I have a Tbird 1ghz@1,5ghz with 166mhz FSB instead of 100mhz...
And it's still stable...
I can let my comp run for several days without any problem !
I can use loads of things at the same time...no problems...
Windows 98 Rocks !! Eat some !

It's possible ...
But you need a 3dfx board. Either a 3dfx, or 3dfx 2.
Still it is not possible to play POD on a P4 (well, never managed to do it )
But the 3dfx trick makes it !

Not exactly true.
When I installed Pod on my laptop, I could run it in MMX mode. BUt like you say, after installing the D3D patch, it wouldnt run.
My laptop is a Pentium 4, 2.53 ghz. 512mb PC2100.
I played around with the microblow compatibility toolkit for two weeks, and never could get anything to work.

so, it is more easy to have a second PC with no bigger proz than an P3 and a 3dfx graphics adapter. but be aware that a voodoo3000 will not be recognized by POD. thats my prob here. i am trying to get my very old installation (when i had MGA MILLENIUM 2 with VOODOO 2) running. maybe it will work sometime.

Voodoo dll not found...
The problem with Pod installation CD prior to Podgold is that he search for voodoo.dll or something like that, and voodoo 3, 4, ... used voodoo2x.dll
You need to put old dll files only for installations to succeed, and after applying the 24Mb patch, you can delete theses files. I don't remember exactly the files, but i'll look this evening at home.
Powerslide run on Windows 2000 without compatibility mode. Are you sure you need to put the compatibility mode?

Here are the files: ftp://ftp.ubisoft.com/PodUpgrade/glide.exe It will uncompress 2 files (glide.dll and sst1init.dll) in your Windows\system directory.
Then the installation CD should find the 3Dfx card (or exactly finding the files it search to accept a 3Dfx) and accept to install. After applying the 24Mb patch, you can delete these 2 files.

wanna play pod on my PC: P4 2,4GHz
Hi pod croud,
i still have a voodoo3000 grafic card. So if some1 could tell me how to let pod run with a P4 2,4GHz i would try it again to get it running.
My idea:
1. install voodoo card
2. install win98 or whatever OS is best for pod
3. let a way to get it running on a Intel P4 2,4GHz CPU
Any help is welcome guys....
btw:
What will happen, when i try to run pod on a GForce4 Card (TI4600) ??
Is there a chance to egt it running, maybe under Direct3D??

It's lost ...
Sorry, but all what I tried on a P4 never ever worked, even with a Win98 install ...
I have to say that I never tried the Voodoo trick with it ... or I do not recall it
Good luck ...

Hello
Hello, anyway, on my system, (Win XP it just crashes after the ubi logo. I tried the instructions on this page http://home.arcor.de/hbredel/POD/POD-En ... glish.html but still didn't work. Also tried logger version of dgVoodoo and apparently crashed with this result at the end of the dgvoodoo log file:
Depth buffer config: Enable W-buffer
Creating depth buffer OK
Used depth buffer bit depth: 32
Stencil bits: 8
Exception occured in function grBufferSwap
EIP: 1001f665, DLL Base=10000000
Calling history: grBufferSwap
Any ideas?
