I did an update today, seems I'm missing a few tracks. :( Sebby, I can no longer access your files so I had to remove your site from the list. Do you still have the tracks available? If you do please let me know what the URL is.

ALso, for anyone else hosting POD tracks please let me know and I'll add your site to the list.

The list is currently missing Fallen, Eiscave, Untitled, and Unight and probably a few more.

I just ran across a reskin I did a while back, called Arcane. It's Beltane with a sort of Sin City look to it: black and white, bits of red for effect. Added it to my site, I checked and it uses ID# 135.

BL3 files aren't needed anymore ! They were only needed for Pod Software mode...or something like that !
BL4 is enough to make a track word now...

There's also the track "Arcade" I don't know if's on your page...

Ahem, some of us still have use for BL3s.

Besides, all the unofficial tracks (except for Forest and Cave) are BL4 only anyway. What exactly do you want?

Because like that, I can't see :)

Because the framerate is painfully low if I use BL4 on my old PMMX with integrated graphics. :P

Yes, it's an ancient machine, but it still does what it needs to, and that includes playing POD!

I do run POD on my XP machine with the glide wrapper. But I also run POD on the old MMX machine (it's actually the very same computer that my POD OEM came with). Why do I run two copies of POD on two computers? Because I can. :P

Yeah...
But amongst the two you don't have THE perfect config for Pod :?

Wich is :

Good CPU
Good GPU
Windows 98
Pod D3D5 GS2 Patched

This is the best way to make good times...

Now if you're just looking for some fun and simple pleasure, XP and Glide Wrappers are allright... ;)

I've been meaning to ask, what exactly is the advantage of GS2? All it does for me is make a couple of tracks not work.

Edited to fix spelling

The GS2 Patch, beside the obvious, also tamed the pod engine when using Glide with voodoo cards.

Without it I had 400 fps and a lap on Magnetic was "played" in 12s (athlon 1.4 ghz and voodoo2).

I take it this is not an issue with the wrapper? Or with the DX5 version?

Is there any real reason for me to install it?

Dunno, I have not reinstall pod in the last 4 years :D

You can try with/without the patch. If you followed the howto of the glide wrapper, you certainly have enable the wait for vertical sync in your card's propertie's page. It may work without the patch... who knows...

I'm running without the GS2 patch. When I install it, Hellway and Eiscave won't work (I know there's a patched version of Hellway out there, but I never bothered to get it.)

I never even noticed the stuff about vertical sync. I just checked the relevant properties page, "Wait for vertical sync" is set to "Application preference".

Since everything works, I guess I don't need to do anything else.

It is not really necessary to install it. It works well without it. :gump:

Are you kidding, at that speed you'll be hitting everything in sight. :klonk:

No kidding. Combine a Tbird 1.4 ghz, a voodoo2, an pod, and enjoy speed.

Maybe no really 12 seconds but yes, I was bouncing in every wall, and even if the pod engine told me my laps were 1'20" in real time it was less than 30s.

With the D3Ddx5 patch, on Windows 98, the refresh rate of POD (and so the speed of the game) was in relation with Windows refresh rate. I put my refresh rate to 200Mhz (supported by my screen).... Speed was amazing, but unusable  I though i was playing like D.A.R.Y.L. (old movie if some remember)

I knew this : my last last install of pod was on my old p233mmx+v2. Once all cars/tracks/patches were installed, I ghosted Pod directories to a cd.

Now I only copy these dirs back to my hdd :D
